AxieLeaks with Shade!

In Axie Universe, we have a lot of places to get informations about the game and Origin. But honestly, i think the best place to get some leaks is Axie Official Discord.

Most of the time, best leaks are coming from Sky Mavis employees who spend few hours in the general chat. We used to have Jihoz and Psycheout for leaks (or for bans if you started to be toxic ^^) but this time Shade came in and answered few questions.

If you don’t know Jeff Kam, alias Shade (twitter : @jeffreykam), he’s the product design for Axie and Sky Mavis. If i remember well, he’s main job is to take care of the Marketplace. But as other Sky Mavis employees, he spent some time testing Origin and shared some interesting points about this new version.

We are all waiting Origin and i can tell you that you will learn new things after reading this article. So let’s not waste more time with my beautiful english stories and let’s go directly into his LEAKS!

Question : Is yam the new poison meta? Cancer lineup again.

Shade : Don't assume that poison in origin works the same way as it does now.

Question : Red is for damage, Blue is for shield & Green is for????

Shade : Heal.

Question : I think hatsune and gravel will change on launch. It doesnt make sense for two cards to have the same effect.

Shade : We know they are the same and it is intentional. There are more cards that are the same as well. But a pure plant with hatsune is not the same as a 6/7 plant with gravel ant because the one with gravel ant won’t be able to use the best charms (cause it has less purity).

Question : Is rock paper scissors still in effect in Origin?

Shade : No more rps. The 15% class damage bonuses are gone.

Question : Then whats the point of classes now?

Shade : There are class-specific runes and charms. Only plant axies can use plant runes.

Question : Why 7/7 Shade. So body will have an effect?

Shade : We count the body/class towards purity now.

Question : Hi, may i know about the card description of red ear? it just says "target any ally". Is that it ? or it has missing info.

Shade : It applies the shield to the ally.

Question : So just drawing anemone will heal the axie automatically?

Shade : Yup. Adds some cool new strategies around card draw.

Question : Does Anemone heal All Axie?

Shade : No, only the axie that the card belongs to.

Question : Also on tail, i think potato leaf gonna be good on a squishy axie. if i think stealth cant be targeted while there are other axie alive.

Shade : Yup, good for support axies. The concept of front/mid/back is less important in origin. Tank/support/ carry will be more prominent.

Question : Read yam for instance, poisons every enemy for 0 energy. I think poison as a mechanic will be nerfed (damage less often or lower damage?).

Shade : Don’t assume that poison works the same way that it does now.

Question : Hi. What is the concept of a "turn" in Origins?

Shade : Turns work like a traditional card game. My turn ends when I do all the actions I want, then click end turn. That is 1 turn. Then the opponents plays cards and presses end turn. That is 2 turns.

Question : Really? Then apply fear for 4 turns is so OP. If fear has the same effect in origin.

Shade : Don’t assume any buff and debuff is the same as it is now.

Question : If I skip a turn does the "turn" effect counts as a turn?

Shade : Yes. Don’t skip turns anymore haha

Question : Game looks unbalanced af so far, sky mavis needs a balance team otherwise origin could fail.

Shade : That is literally why we are doing an alpha.

Question : Been thinking, are shield cards usable to self since it mentions the word "ally" and we know that we aren't our own ally?

Shade : Yes you can target the axie that is using it.

Question : I think AoE poison is the next meta.

Shade : Theres other unrevealed mechanics to counter poison. We will reveal what all the buffs/debuffs/curses/summons do at a later date. Curses are like hot butt (when you put cards in your opponents deck, bleed is debuff.

Question : Wen next card leak?

Shade : Next week!

Question : Will there be regional language in Origin Shade ? Has the team considered about it?

Shade : Yeah we’re working on localizing Origin into more languages. Might not be in time for alpha launch though.

Question : This will be a 6/7 purity Mech in Origin right Shade ? (While sharing a picture of a Mech Axie).

Shade : It's more complicated than that actually 😅 I don't want to reveal too much yet cause we havent announced exactly how purity plays into it but, basically, higher purity lets you equip more and better charms. A 7/7 aqua will be able to equip a stronger combination of charms than a mech with 6 aqua parts.

Question : Any word regarding the linear energy update?

Shade : Green Ranger is actively working on this. I think he's going to propose something to the community soon.

Question : Care to share the exact body/class? does it mean aqua parts 6/6 then the aqua body itself? or its the specific (sumo, yak)?

Shade : Aqua body itself, the class basically.

Question : Should I bother making my axies reach level 25 before origin, or should I just do it when origin comes?

Shade : Your axies levels in v2 don't matter in origin, its a new game. Everyone will start from scratch. It's going to be a race. First person to unlock mystic charms and runes will dominate the leaderboard.

And there is one thing really important that Shade confirmed few days ago! All Axies will have 320 HP!

I hope this little article will help you a little to understand Origin better. As we always say on the discord, be careful with cards you see today. During the Alpha, Axie team will gather a lot of datas to nerf/buff cards and balance the game.
So you have two possibilities. You can already gamble on teams and buy axies that you think as the next meta. You buy them for a really cheap price but you have a high chance to finish with a bad one. Or you can wait until they finish balancing the entire game, but i think good axies will already be sold with an expensive price.

I like to gamble! I love casino! I don’t need to wait all cards, runes and charms, and start theory crafting. I just look the marketplace and buy floor axies that could have a nice combo. If at the end, the axie is not good, then i will use them for the next Lunacian Express. Nothing is useless in the Axie Universe!
